I agree 100% a good use of FEA software saves money, time and effort. The key is knowing how to use it correctly.

Kind Regards

FEA and CFD have a huge role to play in modern day engineering....having said that....the most important thing young engineers need to understand is the basics in all aspects of load distribution, reaction forces, flow calculations.....most software allow you to input your own formulas to make relavent calculations, so it all comes back to fundamentals...FEA and CFD is nothing buy a very advanced spread sheet with formulas, it only shows you a graphical representation of the results......

so FEA and CFD is only as good as the input........put rubbish in get rubbish out......

Also as engineers make sure you start building a quality reference library.....buy quality books on subjects of interest....you will allways be refering to them...this is your lively hood as an design engineer......software comes second......
