Mass Damper - How it works Mass Damper is a system introduced in F1 by Renault last season.
It uses a mass suspended inside the dampers to equalise tyre bouncing frequencies under heavy loads, for example when cars are cornering or in contact with a kerb.
This reduces pitch and ensures a more constant level of grip, thus improving performance.
Mass Damper is not a news, it is common used in big buildings:
London Millennium Bridge - ('The Wobbly Bridge')
Television Tower (Fernsehturm) in Berlin. Tuned mass damper in the spire.
The Trump World Tower in New York
etc...
But... It was used "some" years ago in the firsts Citroën 2CV. |
