Smile Hi Everybody!

Hi Everyone,

This is my very first post on this forum. I am Vishal, currently in US and just completed MS in Aerospace Engineering. I have been in CFD for last 3 years, but mostly as a project assistant or research assistant. I haven't had a chance to work on real life/industrial problems.

I have worked mostly with one and two-dimensional compressible flow governed by Euler equations. One of the motivation to be in the field of CFD is to design cars(of course the final aim is for Formula 1). I have been searching resources in the same line and that's how I came across this forum.

Do we have any aerodynamicists who can provide a some quality information on how to get initiated in the field? I would also like to add that I still haven't taken a formal course in Aerodynamics and have Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering

Thank you,
~ Vishal

Hi Vishal,

Try to get a link with the Cambridge university or the Imperial College in London as quite a few guy, especially in aero, are coming from there.
But also, if you have get already some experience in CFD, then have a try directly with teams as it's time of the year where they are looking plenty of hands for their dept.
You'd better have a look on the appointments available on the Autosport (.com) as that's where most of teams put their requirement.

Good luck

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Thanks a lot for reply. I completed my Master's from University of Michigan in US. My advisor teaches summer CFD course at Cambridge. Your statement "quite a few guys, especially, aero are coming from there"..It sounds like you're in motorsports industries. Is this true? Thanks for the autosport.com. I wasn't aware that F1 Teams really post jobs there!I did go to Ferrari site but couldn't really get much info. I will keep checking the autosport.com. Also, I was wondering what kinda work experience with reference to aero is of greatest demand in F1 industries?

Thanks,
Vishal
