Depsite the race being about the most exciting one for ages. There were a few interesting updates for the race.

Renault had a new front wing, with the very square dip in the centre, this dip also had the main plane slotted to create three elements (like BMWs wing).

Q: How can such a square profile wing not be senstive to attitude changes?

Q: Whats the benefit of the slot being in the main plane and not the flap..?

Mclaren had a new rear wing, with two distinct dips across its span (like Ferraris) I can see how the pressure distribution accross the wing might work. but as this this wing works without the Viking horns on the roll structure it perhaps it has a better yaw performance than their usual wing.

Q: Can Gabrielle explain how these viking horns work on the Mac, BMW? only in yaw I guess to draw air around the engine cover

Hi everybody!

The Germany GP was very disappointed for Ferrari, beacuse both cars was half second quickly than McLaren, but the race conditiond (rain) not permitted to get the best result.

BMW cars compromitted the better result at the first corner, but increased the gap from Renault and is the third team in the World Campionship.

Red Bull did a fantastic race and solve a lot of realibility problem.

Honda little progress, but unlucky race.

Fernando was simply fantastic.

A square profile wing is less pitch sensitive and the slot help the flow to remain attached at the profile.

The new McLaren's wing dosent need the correction obtained from the "Vicking horns".

Ciao

Gabry

Hi Scarbs,
to complete what Gabriele answer you, I can add that the slit helps to increase the pressure of the airflow passing under the main profile and exiting the flap and provide the same improvements of BMW's one.

Ciao,
LMcQ
