They can do this because there are many factors, which make the car worth racing. First, the engine used in the NASCAR racecar is quite large, around 358 cubic inches, unlike the streetcars that generate around 300 horsepower of energy.
Second, the engines of NASCAR racing cars have cam profiles which are extremely radical and then those cam profiles open the intake valves, help in more air intake by the cylinders especially when the car is on high speed.
The engine speeds are controlled by the intake and exhaust valves, tested and tuned as per the users' wishes. Third, the carburetors of the engine intake huge volumes of fuel and air, making the NASCAR racecars engine produce more energy. Fourth, the engine of NASCAR racecars has programmable, high-intensity ignition systems allowing customization of the spark timing in order to provide the maximum desired power. The engine is initially made to run on the dynamometer for around half an hour to break it in. After that, the engine is inspected well. Special care is also taken for the filters.
The filters are properly checked for excess metal shavings to make sure no abnormal wear has taken place. After passing the initial test, the engine it goes back on the dynamometer for another two hours. During this test, the ignition timing is dialed in to maximize power, and the engine is cycled through various speed and power ranges.
