Riccardo Moretti (Honda-CRP Racing) jumped on the podium at the end of the fifth round of the 125GP Marvic Italian Championship and is now in fifth position in the championship, behind Lacalendola, back in first position after he won yesterday’s race; Sancioni is second, Ferro third and Biaggi fourth. Moretti didn’t start quite well, he was fifth at the first lap but then racing fast, thanks to many record laps, was already third at the forth passage, a position he maintained until the end of the race.

During the first ten laps he even reached the first two riders many times (at the ninth lap he was only 0.942” behind them) while both chasers Ferro and Biaggi were already far away. After ten laps, the tyres began to wear out a little bit and that’s why Riccardo slowed down and only thought about the third step of the podium. Now there are only three points between Moretti and Palumbo, sixth in the general classification.
The Honda prepared by CRP Racing, that made use of the brand new engine for the first time on track, is really promising and we hope Moretti will end the championship in this position, which actually was CRP Racing’s aim at the beginning of the year. In fact, CRP Racing dedicated the 2007 season to the global development of the RS125 Honda in all its technical, motoring and cycling components, anyway aiming at the Honda Trophy as first goal. Sunday’s result, which is more than flattering, is confirming that the global program was realized to reap the benefits the following year. An indispensable component of this flattering program has been the rider, Riccardo Moretti, that allowed to reach goals thanks to his skills and reliability.
