The Reverse Engineering and Dimensional Inspection Service
The Reverse Engineering technologies are nowadays essential to reduce the design time and obtain high quality products.
The Reverse Engineering complete CAD/CAM and Rapid Prototyping technologies, therefore the DESIGN LOOP, the process that includes “concept development - design - engineering - production”.
Starting from the digitalization of a physical model it is now possible to generate a 3D CAD model that becomes the starting point of a new product development. This service allows to offer different mathematical models according to the customer requests: starting from the virtual point cloud coming from the scanning, we’re now able to create STL files suited to production and Rapid Prototyping, NURBS surfaces (B class), style surfaces (A class), parametric solids.
The same hardware and software tools used for Reverse Engineering allow to digitize completely the surfaces of a part, to compare them with the original CAD model and generate a measure report that highlight the dimensional gaps generated by the productive process.
The new Reverse Engineering service offers a qualified consultancy for 3D scanning, CAD modelling, dimensional inspection, components and equipments quality control.
Equipments
7 axis CMM Faro Platinum Arm + Faro Laser Line Probe optical system
Spherical measuring range: 3 m (10 ft.)
Scanning speed: 19.200 points/second
2 s accuracy in non-contact measurements 0.05mm
The system is completely portable and allows to make 3D scanning and measurements on customer site.
The use of the 7 axes arm combined with the laser system allows to make contact measures or optical scanning in the same time, using the same reference system.
The lightness of the tool and the huge number of freedom grades make fast and reliable the scanning of complex and hardly approachable parts.

The measurement software ARCO CAD allows the off-line data processing.
This means that during the production of the part in the workshop, the test department can process the customers’ original geometries/drafts to create the measurement program, reducing final-check times on coordinate measuring machines. This software is dedicated to the inspection of geometrical features and surfaces.
The measurement software Tutor allows the probing of geometrical features and SurferNT the digitizing of surfaces.
All 4 measurement machines do have a Renishaw PH10M probing set + automatic probe changer Renishaw SCR200.
This CMM’s configuration allows a great measurement flexibility maintaining the maximum accuracy.
