3D Printing sustainability

Sustainability

How 3D Printing can be transformed to serve people and the planet

Total commitment towards a real 3D printing sustainability

When compared to current manufacturing processes, 3D printing meets the main criteria for sustainability: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

At what instance is this theoretical or viable?

3d printing enables rapid prototyping, increases the production efficiency, and permits the manufacture of unique items, and limited editions.

It can also reduce production costs, carbon dioxide emissions from the process, the energy consumption over the lifecycle of a product together with transportation costs.

Environmental Sustainability and Responsible Innovation

CRP Technology has achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, confirming its commitment to the continuous improvement of its Environmental Management System and the adoption of sustainable industrial practices.

The certification was issued by DNV and is valid for the production of plastic components using SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) technology and subsequent finishing processes, as well as for the production of powders intended for SLS and similar systems. The certified activities fall under IAF code 15 (Rubber and plastic products) and were assessed in accordance with the requirements of Technical Regulation RT-09.

The ISO 14001 standard provides a structured framework for environmental management, enabling CRP Technology to systematically reduce its environmental impact, optimize resource use, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This achievement is part of the company’s broader strategy to integrate sustainability into its advanced manufacturing processes.

Further and Better

Though there is much more we can do to further and better reduce pollution, CO2 emissions and increase the circular economy.

At CRP Technology we’re all striving to modify internal processes, and create revolutionary materials that can actively serve the scope to improve sustainability and environmental impact.

Biomaterials and End-of-Life Composite Management

Our R&D department has always prioritized environmental performance.

Windform composites are manufactured using a polymer matrix that is 100% organic-based and fully renewable.

Our sustainability commitment

We expect to introduce importante changes in the reuse of composite materials for different manufacturing processes ranking from injection molding or FDM 3D printing.

We produce composite materials with the proper features to be re-melted in order to be re-used for instance with an injection molding machine.
But the costs for such  a “virtuous route” are  still prohibitive in absence of funds and incentive.

The near future of the green economy

The golden path for a circular, sustainable economy would be the fruitful cross-industry cooperation between companies that mold plastics and manufacturers of composite thermoplastic materials.

Bio materials and the recycling of end-of-life composites

The commitment towards environment has always been a priority in our every day Research and Development activity.
All our Windform composites do have a polimeric matrix totally organic and 100% renewable.

Today, our experts are working on two sides :

Both offer a good margin of improvement, which has not been traced yet.
